Long long way home

Well, don't ask me where I was :)

Too many things happened since I have written the previous post. First, and most important, I became a dad. That is really great feeling, but also a great responsibility.

In addition I'm changing my sphere of work from native C++ development to Java EE. Yep, I got tired a bit of all that Windows stuff. I just want to use my favorite OS, the best open source tools. And I won't have any surprises from a proprietary piece of crap which works not in the way it is documented. Hello patterns, high-level design and other candy. The key moment in this decision was an invite to GoogleWave. I was stunt by the cutting-edge web technologies. So, native development will only be for state of the art, and primarily that will be bug fixes to the free software I use.

Btw, I have changed my Linux distribution of choice. I'm almost year on Fedora and it is a subject of subsequent posts why did I change my mind. My plan about spreading the word of kubuntu packaging seems failed. Yikes, sorry.

Finally I feel more language power to feed a blog. See ya.

This weird merging

Two days ago I have performed my first merge. And then three more right after that, because it is a kind of fun! It were knetfilter, kbibtex, kdmtheme and qtstalker. Actually process of merging reminds me a puzzle: you just pick one from the list, play with it, and receive a beautiful new package for upcoming ubuntu release. Though folks from #kubuntu-devel lovely help me to choose a package according to my skills. Thanks to them!

Let's get acquainted

Hi Web, my name is Sergey Rudchenko and here I will share my experience in development of software and kubuntu in particular. You can usually find me as Serega on #kubuntu-devel at irc.freenode.net. This blog is intended to take an attention of new volunteers and give them a solid base. I believe this blog will be very useful for them because my skills are very basic now and we would evolve "simultaneously". Looking forward for your comments, critics, claims, jokes, etc.

Good luck.
